Don't know how to cope
My and my ex broke up a year ago because he lost feelings and wasn't feeling well mentally. A few months after I found out he cheated during the last months of our relationship. We had a really amicable breakup and we talked everything out after I found out he cheated. I understand his reasons, he was mentally unstable at the time. We then had a few months of no contact so I could figure out my feelings. I still saw a future with him and I wanted to give it another chance in the future when he would treat me better. We started talking after the no contact period and then had a friends with benefit relationship for a few months. When I then asked what he wanted he told me he got interested in another girl and wanted to pursue that relationship. He told me he still didn't have feelings for me but he was still physically attracted to me and would otherwise have kept seeing me if it wasn't for this possible new relationship. I told him I still saw a future with him and that I wanted to try again. Which he replied to that we were too busy to make it work right now and that he wasn't in love with me anymore. He then said that he still wanted to keep in contact. We discussed what that would mean, and we agreed on very little contact now in the beginning. I care about him deeply and I still somehow see a future with him. I've told him this and he doesn't want to promise me we'll try in the future but still wants to stay in touch despite me telling him I'm hoping for more someday. I'm not good at having "Little" contact but I know I shouldn't bother him. I don't know how to cope with this.
It hurts. It hurts so bad, but you have to take time I see everything the way it is and move on. Everyone deserves to be loved back!
If I were you I would be true to your needs: stop seeing him. It is the quickest way to get over someone. He cheated on you. There is no excuse for that. This is not the kind if relationship that you deserve. He kept you on the backburner until he met someone else. You might love this guy, but... Why would you accept this behavior?
