Have an ex who you thought left your life but has made a confusing return?

Hi sorry if the question is quite confusing. I'll try to explain what I mean so I can get some feedback from fellow members of 7 Cups. So my ex (first love) had a recent parting because he felt that I was coming on too strong and he didn't know how to tell me. So when I noticed he was withdrawing and becoming more distant I tried to find out what happened which made him only want to run away and block me. So my friend finally found out what I was doing wrong because he wasn't being upfront with me. He also had claimed he wanted nothing to do with me and didn't want to fix things. This happened a month ago and now he has just recently unblocked me and replied back to a comment I had made on a mutual friend's post. So I'm so confused about his intentions towards me. Can someone provide some clarity to why he has unblocked me all of the sudden?
