He said he still loves her

I have issues with my current boyfriend. I think he's into someone else and I have more than enough reason to think so. He told her he still loves her while with me, told me that he misses her because she makes him laugh, also said to me that he will always wonder what could have been and he can't just move on because they never got to date. They were close friends and even after 3 years of trying to prove my love for him, he's still looking her up on social media.

He used to visit her behind my back during the first few months of dating, a year later, he was constantly calling her, asking for updates on her life, asking her about her love life, receiving pics of her new tattoos. I even thought of getting a tattoo as well. I don't want to be anyone but me. Am I being naive by thinking that he'll change?

@Oceaniia thank you for sharing this here. It seems that you found yourself in a difficult situation where you were not feeling loved by your boyfriend. Hopefully now your are feeling better :)

@Oceaniia It's painful when the person you're in a relationship with is giving an unfair amount of attention to someone else, especially when they know that it bothers you. Him going behind your back to see her and wanting to be close to her so much is a red flag and I think although you want to hold on to your relationship, your intuition is probably right and it's best to trust yourself.

Do you want to have a boyfriend who seems so infatuated with another girl? Has he shown any hints of changing or do you simply want him to? What do you believe he'll do in the future based on past behavior instead what you want to believe? Would you rather be with someone who's entirely invested in you who you can trust? These are all questions worth reflecting on and although it's painful to end things, I promise that there's more love out in the world and you can heal from the pain this situation has caused you.

You deserve someone who's as invested in you as you are in them, someone who sees a future with you and commits to it in both words and actions. There are worse things than being alone and sometimes letting go of people who've hurt you can help you heal. That said, talking to him about any way he can defend himself or if there's a chance for the two of you would be worth it. Sometimes people get crushes on other people while in a relationship but still ultimately decide to stay away and be loyal to their partners, remember that that's his decision to make though and it's your choice to see if he's deserving of your trust. That said, I'm proud of you for seeking support and doing your best to make an informed decision.

You deserve love and loyalty, I hope reading this was of some comfort. ❤
