I married my high school sweet heart, tomorrow after 17 years togeyher we sign the divorce papers. A divorce i desperatley don't want but he has found some one else. How do I gain my happiness again without him when I still love him so much? He's all I think about, I don't sleep I don't eat. All I do is cry and stumble through my days. HELP ME MOVE ON AND BE HAPPY

Oh my heart goes ou to you @Tiffany0225. It is so hard when you weren't the one to make this decison... when you wouldn't have wanted it to end like this. Its likely to take a while for you to come to make sense of it all and there will be grief for the loss of this special relationship.....the tears, the not sleeping and eating are part of this. So please be gentle with your self and ask for the support you need to get through. We are here for you. And in time you will realize that you are moving on, that you can be happy again. Hugs.

I am so sorry that after 17 years your husband found someone else. It is like a death, you will go through all of the grieving processes with the exception that he is not dead and he betrayed you. You may stay in the anger stage a little longer than the other stages. This is the time to surround yourself with family and friends because you need support. It will be hard to be alone, especially at night. I don't know if you have children but if you do, they will probably also be helpful, not that you should discuss the intimate details of your divorce with them but you can go places and stay busy and at least not be alone.

It might be good to talk to a therapist if you find yourself crying a lot, not wanting to function and having dark thoughts. You will have to have courage and know that him leaving you is not a reflection about you, it is definately a reflection about who he is as a person. It sounds like he may be going through male menopause, fearing getting older, feeling stuck and wrongly thinking the grass is greener on the other side.

I also know that there are divorce support groups in many places, that might be an option for you also.

Another good thing is a book I used and still have when my husband died called, "Learning to Live Single," because it had many good ideas for taking care of myself.

Remember that there are many wonderful listeners on 7 Cups available 24/7 so you will never be alone. I know right now everything seems dark but in time you will start seeing the light again.

I'm very sorry you are going through this, no one deserves what he did.
