How to breakup: HELP

I have gone 24 years now rarely ever being the one to end a relationship. The only times I have ended the relationship, it seems to have been over text message. I currently have a boyfriend who's 29 years older than me and I feel like he would demand and require me to speak with him in person and end the relationship face-to-face. I am extremely fearful, but I also don't know what I would say. I feel like I would stumble over words and maybe even cry while trying to tell him that I want to go separate ways. I also don't feel like I have the courage to do it in person. Does anyone have suggestions or tips on how to successfully do this? I know from the receiving table he may not be kind or take the break up well, which is fine, I just wanna make sure I react appropriately and I handle the situation in a kind and caring manner.
