How to move on from your first love

April 25th, 2016

My ex Bf and I broke uo 2.5 months ago after 2 years together and I'm stressed about him finding someone else very soon and I'm still hurting. We got together just 4 months after his breakup from his first gf and im scared he will do the same. I'm srill stuck at the stage where I don't want him to share what we had with someone else

@Melnutrition Being a person who was/is in your shoes, I had problems with checking to see what my ex was doing too. In the end, for my own sanity, I stopped going on all social networks where I could keep myself updated with him. I even installed a block site app on chrome and blacklisted all of the sites I would gain information on. It truly was the best decision I ever made. It's difficult to let someone go but if they made a decision to leave, you really aren't "letting them go". It's a choice they made, no matter who did or didn't do what.

For me, looking at his social networks gave me a sense of control and stability in a time where I felt I had nothing but pain. Maybe that's why you may do it too. But the thing is, it's okay to not be in control, it's okay to realize that the decision to breakup wasn't in your control even if you agreed to it. Maybe once you really understand that, healing your own heart will be a bigger priority to you than breaking it by looking.

I know how hard it is but keep reminding yourself that you are worth the struggle. Good luck! heart

@Melnutrition First loves or great loves are very hard to move on from. Just give yourself time and be patient. Believe me, I went through an awful stage for many months, where I thought about my ex all day. I really thought I was going insane too. It's just your brain's way of trying to recover what was lost and that is your sense of stability. I know it's a cliche saying but time does heal all wounds. It'll get better and if you ever need to talk about it more, let me know. heart

It won't be easy . Trust me it was difficult for me at first . Start loving yourself . It might sound weird like it has nothing to do with it . But , listen up . It works !! Dress different , be friends with guys , get more girlfriends , go shopping , makeup your face prettier then before , And change your style. You will forget you had a crush on ... Who again ? Exactly ! Try it . Loving yourself can change your mind in a split second . You control your thoughts . Your thoughts never control you !

Eventually you will feel like a weight was lifted from your shoulders. It took me over a year to get that feeling.

@Melnutrition

It's ok to be jealous, to be afraid of the possibility that everything that was yours could be someone else's. Maybe you feel hopeless, like you have no control over anything. Maybe you feel like you're going to crazy. Maybe you feel like your world is crumbling. But you know what? You don't know how strong you really are yet. Think about your future self. Think about how happy you will be when you fall in love with someone else who sees all of the wonderful things about you and appreciates you for all the things that make you special. Think about the moment you realize you don't love your ex anymore and how free you'll finally feel to be done with the pain and misery of crying over someone who isn't worth it.

The you right now that's afraid of everything that might happen, who misses everything that used to be- that you is going to one day be someone you look at and smile about because one day you'll be happy again and wonder why you let yourself forget just how incredible you really are. First love? That's hard. But last love? Not by a long shot. Laugh as much as you can. Smile even if you have no reason. Soon your tears will stop and you'll be ready to find the love of your life. Just wait and see.

I had a best friend for 5+ years. she was my other half, we shared absolutely EVERYTHING. she was closer than a sister to me. and a few days after my boyfriend and I broke up, he told her he was in love with her. and now they're dating and I'm not close with either of them. she always seems to get everything I want/love. and now I have extreme self esteem issues about not feeling like I'm anyone's first choice.
