I broke up today
Hi, break up can be very very hard to deal with.
I'm glad you're here and putting a step forward towards healing. The most important thing is to forgive yourself and giving yourself the time and space to move forward. That means staying away from toxic people or people who drain you. Practice being comfortable in your own presence and going back to the things you gave up on before being in the relationship or during the relationship. For instance, I couldn't connect to my friends much and left a few things I really enjoyed doing to make more time for my partner.
I found it very hard to get my attention back to those things and actually enjoy them but I slowly brought myself into that space.
Just be kind to yourself and let yourself feel what you're feeling without going down into the same spiral. It can be a tough task but if you feel determined about it then it can be achieved because now the focus should be you and not the other person. So, you can try by starting to set a morning and night routine. I tried to follow it even when I cried to sleep because that simply made me feel I'm making efforts and will get there slowly. It takes upto 8 months or more at times. So, be very patient and kind to yourself. You'll fail too but don't give up.
I hope you heal soon. ❤️
@Yougotmyback Thanks for telling me this :)
We all are here for you. ❤️🌻
@Yougotmyback Thanks :)
Honestly, time will be the biggest healer. Allow yourself as much time as you need to process the breakup and do activities and go places that make you happy. I'd also recommend writing out and listing negative things about the relationship that lead to the breakup - that way if you do feel like you miss the person, this list can remind you why it wasn't all that great.
Hi meowcat, sorry to hear about your breakup. That sucks that you're hurting right now.
It's hard to give specific advice when I don't know you, your (ex) partner, or your relationship. I can share a few things that helped me get through my most recent breakup. You can view them as suggestions rather than instructions.
1. Make a playlist of all the songs that remind you of your ex - this can include both positive and negative songs. It can help validate all the emotions you feel (both good and bad) when looking back on the relationship.
2. Confide in a friend or family member who will support you through the pain. You may not want to confide in people who tell you to move on as quickly as possible.
3. If you're able, travel somewhere far away from your home. This can help you form new memories without your partner and remind you that you can have a full life without him or her.
As another user said, time truly is a great healer. You are probably hurting a lot now, but I assure you that you will feel better as time passes. 💔
