Idolising my ex
Does anyone else have this issue? I'm on the road to recovery and I know deep down I'm better off without her. She lied and manipulated me post breakup and had some major issues I don't need in my life. But every now and then I seem to think about how beautiful she is, how much she meant to me and how I fear I'll never find someone better
this hurts considering she's already moved on, and doesn't want anything to do with me. And I know I deserve better than her. My brain just seems to make her out to be this perfect girlfriend when she wasn't. I fear this won't change for some amount of time :( I get down on myself, my confidence is shot at times and I just want to hit fast forward
@Ross71
You were with her in a relationship. It takes time for these feelings to go away, and it's a bit of the never know what you have til it's gone syndrome. There is a reason you're not together right now, but there was once a reason you were. It will take time for you to adapt to her not being part of your life, but untill that time comes she'll be on the brain and it will be mostly about the good times because she did mean a lot to you. One thing that may help is taking a piece of paper and writing down all of her flaws, write down the reasons why your life is potentially better without her in it.
@EnigmaticRebel thanks. To be honest I know she wasn't right for me. As much as I thought she was she had too many things that mean she wasn't the one. I wouldn't trust her now which sucks because I thought I knew her. I gave her everything just for it to blow back into my face. I mainly have that fear of finding someone new and being vulnerable again after how this one turned out. Looking around the world even the smallest thing that can link to her reminds me of her, and makes most days tough
i know the feeling i been in this state for 3 years mainly cause im scared but it does get better just a hard journey to get there
