I don
I have been in a relationship the last 5 years with a person who was very emotionally abusive and nearing the point to where others may consider it physical abuse. I decided that I must leave this person in order for them to get better. I did love them very much, but after 5 years of constant heart ache and crying all the time I could no longer handle what was being done to me. He would call me names and be upset that I spent time with people who weren't him. He would insult my friends and family and let me know that nothing will come of my life. The straw that broke the camels back was when he called me a bitch and a whore on a random fight after I had gone out with a friend. He would always apologize and just let me know he knew none of what he said or did was true, but he wanted to hurt me. Which made it all the worse. He increasingly became dangerous in my eyes and I blocked him on everything, but every part of me constantly wants to message him and ask him to talk to me. We have done this back and forth numerous times and he always proves to me he can't change, but I need to let myself finally let go. How do I stop myself from messaging him?

Hi there, I can very much relate to your situation & i feel your pain... as im going thru the same thing now. Im tempted to text my ex too... its hard to resist the temptation but perhaps you can try putting your phone away and do smtg else to keep your mind busy? Something like exercising, watching a movie or journaling. Personally, exercising (cardio is the best) helped me alot (i still feel the temptation of wanting him to talk to him & texting him, but exercising did help me clear up my mind & put me in a much better emotional state). I'm here if you need to talk, we're on the same boat & I understand your feelings.
