Hi. Sounds to me like he told you exactly what he felt- that he isn't ready for a relationship, and he realised you were getting in deep, and he wasn't ready for that.
And he's been honest enough to tell you quickly.
My suggestion - Grieve your loss, recognise that it was not going to work out, and when you are ready, move on.
