Is it worth the hope?
My boyfriend or ex-boyfriend went on a trip to Europe with his 5 best friends. They have been there for like 3 weeks now and he ended up breaking up with me the 2nd week. All we did was fight since he has been there but before he left we were on such good terms. He told me he loved me with all his heart before he left and then 2 weeks in he said he wasn't sure anymore. We have talked since he has been there but it's mostly fighting and he is just flip-flopping on everything. One day he is agreeing to take a break and the next day he is telling me he is just done with me and the relationship. I ended up telling him I don't want to fight anymore and we'll just talk when he gets back and to have a good vacation. He read it and then blocked me. Part of me hopes that he blocked me just to actually have a break from the fighting but the other part of me thinks he is fully done with me and the relationship. He doesn't get back for another week and I am wondering if I should have hope we can talk things through when he gets back and maybe get back together. But I also don't want to get my hopes up. I don't know what to think.
So sorry you are going through this back and forth. Not knowing all the details. I read "fighting" so many times in your post, it makes me wonder if you even realize yourself how it affects you ( and him too probably) Negative emotions rarely just go away in my experience. We aren't here to give advice, but just reading your heartfelt post makes me sad to think you would even go back to all that again. It is up to you, so think about what makes you happy. If you get a break, it may be a good oppertunity to explore some other ways to find joy, whatever that may be for you. It might make it easier to get your mind on other things that are good and healthy for you. I wish you well.
@MusicCandy When we are together it is fine but when we are apart especially for long periods of time we both get hostile with each other for some reason. I have self-destructive tendencies especially in relationships so it's me usually starting a fight. I just didn't know it bothered him so much because he said he was 100% happy and satisfied. I am getting help for it but it takes time. I think it would be worth the risk of getting hurt again. We both care about each other and don't want to fight anymore.... we just can't see to stop fighting. I truly love him.
@iamnotsure
I'm glad to hear that you are seeking help for hostile emotions.. that can't be good in any relationship. It sounds like it might be better to take the relationship slow until you both are better able to handle conflict between you. Flare ups just are not good for your ability to communicate in a loving and sustaining way. I wish i could wave a wand for you, but no one can solve the issues but the 2 of you. Best wishes that it will turn out right either way.
