About a month ago I got severely depressed again and I isolated myself so much that I ended up losing my best friend of 2 years. Although I love her I feel as though she neglected me as she didnt even bother to ask if I was okay. Now we havent spoken in a month and Im still depressed and now shes hanging out with so many other people, doing the things we used to do together. Its as if we broke up and shes seeing someone new and I have to see it everyday and were still kind of in the same friend group and honestly every time I see her with someone else my heart breaks and I get depressed all over again. I just dont know what to do. How do I go about dealing with this everyday when it hurts to much. Please help.

Hi Lulu, I hope you're ok. Sorry that something like this has happened to you. I have recently lost a friend, found out she's lied to me about something very important to me and I lost all my trust in her. It hurts.

I'd like to tell you that, from my experience, not many friendships last all your life. People come and go to your life and it's not necessarily a bad thing. You change troughout your life and sometimes, if your friends can't cope with it/ accept it, they have to go. There will be new people to take place and it is only up to you how many new people you're going to let in.

It's good to understand why she might have distanced herself. You think that your depression might have been somewhat a reason. But if she wasn't there for you to at least try and support you, then she probably isn't the best friend for you?

It doesn't mean she's a bad person, she probably just doesn't know what to do herself? How to help?

You can always fight for her, try and talk, explain how you feel, without a grudge or anger.

Would it make you feel better to find out why she's distanced herself? Do you want to know?

Maybe it's just better to move on?

Loosing friends is sad and scary, loneliness is scary. But at the end of the day you'll only get better when you learn to be happy with yourself; as cliche as it sounds, your happiness can't depend on somebody else.

To fight depression you'll need a lot of support but if she couldn't do it you can find other people to rely on.

There's professional help and theres loads of places where you can meet new people.

Join a drawing class, go to a gig, it all starts with a simple 'Hi'.

Take care

@Lulu12301 I know exactly how you feel. My "best friend" of 7 years stopped talking to me, has been avoiding me since I got very sick (despite the fact I even helped her when she was depressed and got her out of a bad situation), and never showed to care about me. All I can say is that it's quite horrible and I don't think she was my best friend after all. I'm sorry you had to go through this too. The only advice I could give you is to let them go, because a true friend sticks with you and stays with you, especially when life is hard and unfair. You deserve a friend who will be by your side, accept you, and will try to help you ..or at least try to understand your feelings. Eventually I managed to find someone who cares about me as much as I care about them, so please don't give up, because someone out there will give you the friendship you deserve, so keep looking for friends. And if you ever feel lonely and wanna talk to someone who'll understand you, feel free to contact me :)
