Moving Out and Starting Over
Thought I would share my current situation to see if others have been in the same position and have any advice.
My ex ended our relationship a couple of weeks ago. We had lived together in his house for 9 months and been together 2 1/2 years. I have found somewhere new to live which I moving to tomorrow after living under the same roof but not together.
I have lived on my own before but most of my friends have moved on with their lives getting married and having children. I am worried that now I am in my early thirties I am going to feel isolated and alone and will amount to nothing, living a lonely existence I supppse just going to work etc.
Does anyone have any advice on how to start building a new life. Feeling like im a failure had that my ex will be successful and lead a great life whereas I will fade into the background. Maybe extreme emotions but could really do with others advice and experience.
Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Hi there,
Sorry to read about your breakup. As Middle aged guy, I've had a few break ups from both sides. They're shitty, for both parties. Of course, if you didn't see it coming and you were in love with him it will be harder for you, but give it time. Time is a great healer.
In the meantime, whilst you're healing, do not let yourself drift away from friends and /or family. Force yourself to be slightly sociable! Maybe not straight away of course. Wine and chocolate are on order.
Possibly get a pet? Pick up new hobbies. The best thing is get in shape. Buy some good running shoes and hit the road. Listen to some podcasts. Joe Rogan has excellent guests on who talk about physical exercise being the root of a healthy existence... It might seem a bit too manly, but it's worth a shot.
You're not your relationship. You're you. Warts n all. Don't be harsh on yourself, breathe, give yourself space and time to heal, don't eat too many cookies, and buy those running shoes tomorrow.
Good luck and stay positive.

Thank you for your message.
I am hoping time will heal the situation. Ive joined a gym near my new place which will help to give me a focus. Dont think the break up has completely hit me yet but I am sure it will tomorrow when I move. The thought of starting again is just so overwhelming and lonely I suppose.
As you said I need to give myself space to process what has happened and move on in the most positive way I can. I do really need to put myself out there and make new friends, there doesnt seem to be many social groups in my age range though!
Would really like a pet but moving to a rental property. Perhaps a fish haha!
Thanks for your wishes.
