My friend's breakup
First of all, I must say that I am not an expert in romantic relationship because I don't feel like I need one right now. All of my friends know this, but for some reason, a friend told me about her relationship problem one day.
She can't get pregnant, but her ex-boyfriend wants a kid. They'd ever discussed about adoption, but it hadn't gone well. Now they have broken up for several months, but my friend still wants to get back together. She's still pursuing him even though the guy has clearly avoided her, to the point that he never agrees to meet up with her for two months.
My friend always reports to me every time something happens. The problem is, I don't know what to say to her every time she texts me. I want her to move on, but I can't just say it to her because I don't know how difficult it must have been for her. I don't know what words to use to respond to her texts. I'm afraid I would say something that would hurt her. Sometimes I ignored her texts for a while until I found the right words, but I'm afraid she would think I'm ignoring her completely. I don't want her to hate me because of that.
@immaddie Hey there! First of all, I think you're an amazing friend and she's very lucky to have you during this difficult time. You could refer your friend to 7 Cups and I'm sure it would do her good to talk to someone, just to clear her mind out.
I think trust and honesty is very important in a friendship. You may have some perception of what's good for your friend and this may differ from her own perspective. And that's okay. Sometimes, we need another person to help us see things from a different angle. I think telling her straight would help her understand how you feel towards this situation. Even the harshest things, if said gently and rightly can have a less harsher impact. You need not impose your advice on her, and you can support her even if she chooses not to follow your advice. But if you feel that something would help improve her situation, go ahead and tell her!
Best of luck <3
