Non-relationship over
Ive always had a hard time getting close to people and being in a romantic relationship always scared me. I have anxiety and depression which don't help this at all. Ive never dated anyone, had a boyfriend, or really actually liked anyone.
Almost a year ago I started a new job and met a guy there. We would talk and flirt and I started to catch feelings and I think he did to. We hung out one night and I lost my virginity to him. Im not upset about that because that was never a big deal for me. We hooked up not too long after that but after the second time it was weird he would talk to me as much and started ignoring my messages. We started talking again after a few months and hung out again about a month ago. He started ignoring my messages again and I noticed him staring at me at work. I think a couple weeks ago he started seeing another girl and he changed his facebook profile to a picture of them. I am really upset by this but I shouldn't be because he wasn't all that nice. What hurts the most is that I have such a hard time likeing people and was finally coming to terms with my feeling for him then he up and gets a girlfriend. We work really close to eachother and I can hear him talking to people at work about girls and it hurts but I can't show it. I also don't want to make working with him weird but I cant help the way I feel and I know I will get over it. I dont think it is really even about the guy but more of a personal self estem issue with trust and commitment.
That certainly sounds like a difficult situation @niceWater7206
Its perfectly understandable to me that you would find it hurtful to be around your ex when he's discussing other women, especially as it doesn't sound like your relationship reached a real conclusion.
What you can take from this however is that you were able to get close to a man, and you did begin to develop feelings and trust, things you say had been difficult for you previously. And in doing it once, you can do it again. So hold your head high, smile, and move on with that knowledge. Take confidence from it. You deserve happiness.
