No social support after breakup

Hello,

its been about 5 months that someone meaningful has walked out of my life. Long story short it was due to too much fighting and it got toxic. While in this relationship we have both lost contact and distanced ourselves with our old friends. At the same time I chose to stop hanging out with certain people. Now that she is gone I have been depressed and very lonely for over 5 months. Waking up is still a. Struggle and I rarely talk to anyone anymore. Except for my mother. Is this A normal situation for those who have been through it? Feeling lonely after and not having anyone to turn to. I do have people to turn to but I chose to distance myself because they were not right people for my life. I still have the urge to message her to send my peace because I have not responded to her last message.

@Ken07 It's absolutely normal. It sounds as though you were experiencing some degree of depression, only you can know how deep it is. As a consequence, the tendency is to get isolated. Do spend some time alone if you really need it, but hang out with some friend even if you don't feel like it. Try to find some activity you enjoy, not only to get distracted but also to develop as a human being (develop a skill). I know that even if someone loves another person, sometimes there are misunderstandings or opposite points of view which make the relationship a struggle. However painful it is, it is better to break it off than marry and then have worse problems. Also, try to get disconnected from the social media to dissuade you from contacting her. Would you like to have her as a friend or would you prefer never more to contact her? Think about it. I hope to have helped you out! :)

@Ken07 of course what you feel is a normal reaction. You cared about your ex and they meant a lot to you. There is no specified time for healing from a breakup especially if you feel you were really invested in the relationship. How you feel is completely understandable. It sounds like you have chosen to surround yourself with the right people for you and this is a great thing to do, many people don't have the courage and strength to do this. Please know that we are here for you at 7 cups (if you would like to discuss in more detail you can feel free to message me directly). I think an important part of healing is keeping busy and focussing on you! Now is the time to do things that make you feel good, things you enjoy doing - allow yourself to heal (if you keep looking back and thinking about the past, it will be harder to move forward). I think that if you can manage to focus on you and resist the urge to reconnect with her (which you are so strong for doing) then it will definitely help in your healing process. Do you have any hobbies? What do you do that helps you feel better and manage your emotions/stresses? I want to tell you how strong you are for getting through this for 5 months (that's a great accomplishment) I know you have what it takes to keep going and move forward from this. Try to meet new people, try to get out (at least once a week if anything) set goals for yourself and try to accomplish them. You will get through this and please remember you are not alone. We are here for you. What you are feeling will not last forever. You will get through this. I know it's hard but keep going. xo

You're not alone in this, we all feel like this when we first break up, wanting to be alone or something like that. I am just the same. If you need someone to talk to, you can message me on 7cups :)
