I am sorry you had to be in this position. He obviously didn't respected what he told you for some reason. I don't think you should feel stupid for something he chose to do or not do. This isn't in any way in relation to you but to himself only. He may have noticed you two have different perspectives on what you want but he should have communicated that. The fact he has a girlfriend doesn't mean he is in that relationship for long term. It's all about communication, boundaries and yes respect! Why do you feel so bad about this?
