Ready to give up on love

I’m 23, a lesbian, and I’d say I’m good looking and have a fun personality but I can never seem to find a girl that truly loves me, every relationship I’ve been in or whenever I talk to a girl I’m always the one who seems to be head over heels while the other person just doesn’t seem to care. The only thing I haven’t went through with dating was being catfished, I’ve had pretty much everything else happen to me unfortunately and it’s been to a point where it’s driven me to suicide attempts. I’m stuck in a constant loop where girls that like me I absolutely do not like them back cuz I think they’re just weirdos and the girls I like never seem to like me back so I’m stuck being single, I’ve been told to just wait it out and someone will come along but the thing is I don’t wanna wait until I’m out of my prime years to find someone.. I hate feeling this way all the time, I’ve tried everything and nothing ever seems to work. I’m pretty much just ready to give up because I have little to no faith left in finding someone I’d be happy with. If anyone has any advice that would maybe help please let me know.

@RFrederick258,

I hear you. Sounds like you're looking outside yourself for happiness and love. Why is that? You have plenty to love and to be happy about already. Don't get catched up in your thoughts, they will only lead you away from your true self. Have you ever tried mindfulness? Ever considered professional help? There is nothing wrong with you. It sounds though like you have created some thinking patterns that are based on assumption and are ignoring your true self. Professional help might help you to become aware and realizing that you indeed have a lot of love and happiness in you, and are to be loved, by self and by others.

Hey there, I’m so sorry you’re going though that and feeling that way, the dating life is rough and finding someone that you’re attracted to who shares your feelings is even harder.. I’m also gay, and also going though a “giving up on love” phase myself. I lost my 1st love 7months ago, still dealing with the repercussions of that breakup but after a few months I tried to date new people to help me move on...and it just ended in more disappointments and heartaches and just like you, I can’t seem to find someone who shares the same attraction or love me for who I am, theres always ‘something missing”, so now I just alternate from being sad and feeling like crap about myself or just being mad at the world and of course not interested in dating or meeting someone else. PLEASE don’t give up, it is very hard to be able to trust again or open up to someone after being hurt so many times and unfortunately I don’t have a secret solution to get over that (I would apply it for myself otherwise haha). All I know is, a little time will help to feel better about yourself, remind yourself all the different ways you’re amazing and all the things you have to give to someone. I am using this emotional hell to try to focus on myself, on my work, my friends and trying to treat myself and do things that make me a bit happier. And one day, just like I know you will too, I’ll find the strength to trust again and put myself out there...
