Recent breakup: Should I stay or go?
I recently broke up with my bf of over a year about a month and a half ago. For some context, I have anxiety and PTSD (and have been in very successful, beneficial therapy!), and this was my first real relationship. We hadn’t really properly gone on any dates since the summer of 2020, as Covid-19 was a HUGE barrier in our relationship. I have immunocomp and very strict family so we couldn’t really do anything together since the pandemic started. I broke up with him in a heat-of-the-moment argument, and stuck by that decision in the 2-3 weeks after. Since then, however, I’ve only felt regret. I realize how that what I did came from a place of hurt, stress, and ultimately, exhaustion. I gave up on the relationship and instead of trying to fix things, just called it quits. Outside of that argument, we started arguing fairly often within the past few months, but always patched it up and worked through it. Nonetheless, I was getting really tired of having to go through the cycle of everything being ok -> one of us feeling upset -> argument (typically him saying I wasn’t doing enough). I’ve had time to cool off and we’ve been no contact for almost a month now. I’m really stuck on whether I should reach out or just move on. Thoughts?
Sounds like you at least needed a break. Are you sure you’re missing him and not tired of being alone? Because I’ve had this issue before. It’s not worth the hurt of being with someone who doesn’t think you’re “good enough” sounds like he has some personal issues he takes out on you. Bottom line is: make sure you really want to get back with him before initiating anything. Think of yourself and how being with him makes you feel. Take the time to really think about it. Hope this helps :)
