Recent breakup

I have been seeing this guy for a while. We were friends for a good amount of time. we got intimate pretty quickly. He was going back-and-forth between being platonic with me and then telling me he’s in love with me. His reasons for wanting to be platonic was because one of his friends had pursued me for a while, and he didn’t feel like it was the right thing to do and then it shifted from that to certain things in my lifestyle that he didn’t agree with. Which were all recent developments for me and honestly, I didn’t mind cutting them out, but he still would come up with other reasons. He was genuinely conflicted. I just feel so hurt because he initiated this and ended up leaving. And I feel very attached to him and it’s been hard not breaking No contact or expecting another text.
