Regrets - An Open Discussion
Regrets. We all have them, some more probing than others. That being said, all regrets are painful, sometimes they stay with us forever. With what I've gathered during my time as a Listener, one of the hardest part about breakups and Divorces may be your regrets.
That voice inside your head that asks "what if...?'' could get quieter over time, but for many people recovery is made a lot harder by regret.
this thread is where you guys can share you questions on regrets, and just in general discuss why regrets jut might be the hardest part of breakups. All opinions are welcome, NO JUDGEMENTS. As Always I'm just a PM away
The what ifs after a breakup were the most difficult for me to get over. I was constantly rethinking every fight we've ever had, every bump in the road, everything period. It led to a lot of sleepless nights. I personally believe anyone who doesn't have regrets are lying to themselves. Everybody regrets something and for me I wish I would have listened more, not taken someone for granted, and had been more patient
The cool thing I think about regrets is that they are a life lesson. Although my regrets eat at me late at night sometimes I am ultimately a better person because of the mistakes I've made. The next girl I date or the next decision I make will be affected for the better because of the mistakes I have made and the regrets I have.
So happy to see you in the forums! Although I'm as single I know a lot of girls have regretted feeling so close to someone who ended up being so wrong. They regret the time and effort they spent on a bad relationship or a relationship gone wrong. I believe if you want to get into a relationship, you have to be ready to get out of it as well. Don't get committed to something you can't go through to the end.
I wish I put myself first instead of making my boyfriends the center of my life. I always tried to support them and make them happy instead of thinking about my own needs. I learned my feelings are important just as much as theirs.
Regrets, oh man, tooooooo many :-(
Regret how blinded by love I was.
What a friggin idiot I was. Didn't listen to other people....
Regret marrying a man that said he would only marry me if I would have kids. I don't regret the kids, but what a bad reason to marry. What about me?
Regret staying all these years, it wasn't good for the kids and destroyed me.
Yep, plenty of regrets....but I trying to survive, trying to see my value, trying to be ok, hoping to maybe one day thrive....before my time on this earth is done...
Its hard though. Lotta fear. Lotta doubts. Lotta sad. Lotta alone.
But I ain't NEVER gonna quit trying!
Thank you, @tryingtofarm52 for sharing this with us here. I applaud your honesty, and kudos to you for moving forward! :)
I often find myself regretting keeping so much bottled inside. Whenever I would have a fight with my significant other I would usually just keep it to myself and go workout to try and relieve some of my frustration. Communication is key in any and all relationships. So when you're upset let the other person know so that you can both try and solve the issue. If you let it eat away at you it'll come out at some unexpected moment and most likely not in a positive way. So all I'm saying is communicate with the person you love because if you don't you just end up drifting apart.
@Christina1995 ~ Good point you have made here, about communication. Thank you for sharing here, much appreciated.
I regret that I got too comfortable and settled for less than 100%. Since my breakup a month ago I have such a sense of freedom. That doesn't mean that I was controlled in any way but I now have freedom to do what the heck I like and make decisions without worrying what he may think.
I regret that at times I didn't treat him as well as I should have and spent more money than I should have but, the majority I believe was well spent.
But, time spent on regrets can be wasted time. I have acknowledged them and now its time to move on.
@Prenderbabe ~ Sounds like you acknowledged your regrets, and are moving forward, in a positive way, and that is really great to hear. Thank you for sharing this with us here, and hope to hear more from you, if you'd like to share more. :)
