Sad vs. dumb

Here's the thing.

I can't ride a bike (yet) due to tumultuous childhood etc. I'm learning this summer.

My ex? He loves cycling. Another thing about my ex: he doesn't want kids, even though he said he was open to it at the beginning of our relationship. When I was inevitably hurt by his change of heart and forced to reevaluate the relationship, he was selfishly offended by my choosing my authentic self over him.

So after we break up, he goes: "Maybe this is for the best. I think you were the one who worried we wouldn't like the same things post-covid, remember?" "Yeah, I'd probably be badgering you to go to comedy clubs right now." "And I'd probably want to ride my bike." "Well, I can't do that!"

He said it to hurt me. But wanting to ride a bike with a partner and wanting to have a baby with them are NOT equivalent.

This whole summer is dumb, the world is on fire, my feelings are leaking everywhere like motor oil

Thank you for sharing. I am glad that you're here. Congratulations on learning to ride a bicycle. I am glad that you're doing good for you. I am also glad that you're moving on from a bad and unsatisfying influence in your life. I'm struggling mightily to do good for myself also, and I know how difficult it is. I'm impressed. I believe in you.

Best wishes.
