Well I asked a little while ago for opinions and it was nice because i knew i wanted to say it just to be kind as he was someone i cared for a lot.

I did it!

I went into it thinking he’d simply just ignore my message or reply with something rude so that if there was no reply, i’d be okay with it as i have no wishes to carry the conversation on more than small talk.
