Slow-motion Divorce

This divorce is taking forever and being calm and patient for such a long time is taking its toll on me emotionally and, soo I suspect, physically. We're separating after 24 years but dis-entangling finances, preparing the house for sale, selling the house, moving out, making arrangements for Mr5yo is taking soooooo long. (I think I'm also trapped a little by her low-level OCD - but that's a different story.) We're still living under the same roof but as separately as possible. It's been like this for two months and it looks like it will continue for another two before we're each in our own place.

I want to make this transition as smooth as possible for everyone involved - especially Mr5yo. We both recognise that we must maitain a relationship in some form for the next 15 years or so for the sake opf Mr5yo as he grows up. Both the process is dragging on and on and on and on and on. I know I need to just trust in the process and let it happen but my patience is wearing very thin. I can only push to get things done so hard and no harder without risking it all descending into lawyers and legal fees and ermotional damage to Mr5yo.

Aaaaaaargh!

My heart goes out to you @TheSleech as I hear about you going through this slow motion divorce... not easy at all. But really want to acknowledge what you are both doing to make this transition as smooth as possible for Mr5yo. Its great that you are looking at continuing to parent him, and as parents learning to work this out together. So want to encourage you to get through the next two months somehow. Do you have support from friends of family, and/or some recreation that can take your mind off it all for a time. Wishing you all the best.

@rozie Thanks. I have a good set of friends, both my own and friends in common. Have pretty much no family support partly because they live so far away and partly because i like them living so far away. I like 7Cups bevause, if nothing else, its a good place to vent.
