Tips for Healing a Broken Heart
1. Go through ? don?t hide from - the experience. You need to fully experience all the negative emotions before the healing process can begin.
2. Allow yourself to wallow in your independence. Don?t rush into a new relationship. You don?t need another person to make you feel complete. You?re enough in yourself. You are NOT inadequate.
3. Make a list of your strengths. It?s important that you focus on your good qualities as a broken heart can cause our self-esteem to plummet. Make a note of your successes and accomplishments. They didn?t disappear with the relationship!
4. Don?t try to suppress all the memories you have. Allow yourself some time to go over one or two ? But don?t pitch your tent there - as the future?s now your focus.
5. Reach out to others who are suffering. You?re not the only person who is having a hard time (although you often feel you are when you?re broken-hearted) ? and comforting another will distract you from your pain.
6. Allow yourself to laugh, and allow yourself to cry. Both of these are healing, and can bring release. They can help us feel more ?normal?, and can bring a sense of peace.
7. Make a ?good and bad list?. Make a list of all the things that you need to stop doing, to try and put some distance between you and them. For example, if you?re always checking their stuff on facebook then you?ll likely find it is harder to get them out mind. Alternatively, going out for a jog or meeting up with a friend can help to lift your spirits, and to change the way you feel.
8. Hang onto your hope. When a relationship ends (or if our love is unrequited) we can feel that life is pointless as there?s nothing good ahead. But the future is still open ? and there?s definitely hope ? And one day you will notice that you?re smiling naturally.
For over ten years now my heart still aches from the words spoken to me when I wasfifteen... Hisinsulting, damaging words still haunts me to this day, my relationships afterwards never lasting because I felt they didn't mean the things they said or lie to me that I was beautiful just make me feel better. I've been single now for seven years and I long so much for a love of my own, but after seeing this post, I think I will try and do everything I can to help me past my anxieties and self prosecutions. Thank you for your advice, perhaps it will eventually heal some of the cracks in my fragile heart.👍🏻😊☺️
There isn't an easy way to stop thinking about someone. All you can do is try to find distractions to take your mind off her or him and doing the things that you make you happy. It?s ok to think about her/him for a little bit, but then after awhile you should find something else to do or think about. You don?t want to feed your thoughts with more thoughts, and more thoughts?. you have to try and cut lose and find other things to think about instead. These things take time so be patient with yourself, but the best thing you can do is not make it worse by dwelling on what you can?t control or change. You?re just wasting your time.Someone will come along that won?t hurt you. Just hang in there and in time you will realize that things do get better. You will meet someone and they will love you unconditionally. It just takes time and patience.
I don't think there is any One way of healing a broken heart-- I've always found to be true that we each have our own methods for putting ourselves back together again after someone has torn us apart. I've never hidden from the pain--rather embraced it. Sometimes we are in denial about our feelings after a breakup and that only extends the amount of time our heart is broken. By embracing the pain immediately--we allow our hearts to face the worst part of any breakup--the truth of it. WE immediately acknowledge that a relationship is over and we must do the hardest thing--start again. Which is terrifying but one of the greatest opportunities we can experience. If a relationship ends--it was supposed to. We are meant to learn from it and meet someone new--someone we can use this new experience with. By accepting the pain rather than hiding from it-- you will allow your heart to mend itself quicker and you will learn so much about yourself in the prcoess!
