We were both toxic

I had trust issues and he kept hiding and lying. I knew right from the start there's gonna be an issue with his baggages but he made me so happy and my family too. He was a great guy but we're just still too immature. We still don't know what our priorities are in life, we're still so young and I didn't wanna waste our time dragging along this relationship that's becoming toxic. He still messages me till this day that he misses me and he'll change but I know I have no control of other people, I only have control over myself. It was a clean break up and I know people deal with things differently. Please give me the support and strength to not reply to him and move forward with my life. 🥺

You're very young, yet able to see with much clarity what had been happening. You are absolutely right, you cannot control or change other people's choices.

Of course there were good aspects to him and the relationship, which is why you were together - but you saw the red flags and ended the toxic relationship. You deserve someone who will respect you and not lie to you.

Do remember to look after yourself, eat, sleep and find activities that make you smile.

Hang in there, one day at a time.

You did the right thing! You’re showing tremendous courage to move away from a toxic relationship..

Its definitely such a liability “Waiting for people to change “ for the better, when the whole of your relationship they lie and behave deceptively. Why do they need their partner to leave them before they decide they will change and improve? Why do they just take their relationship for granted and then beg for a “second chance” after they throw away their first chance like it’s nothing? No, people who behave this way and adopt that attitude do not genuinely appreciate the love that is given to them. They do not respect their partners enough to cherish their relationships, and think that they can just treat people poorly and just still expect them to stay!

So yes you’re absolutely right. You must do this for yourself and surround yourself with people who sincerely appreciate your value! He calls because he knows he has lost a good thing, but that doesn’t make him the right person for you! Stay strong in your resolve! You will be better for it.
