Hi everyone, I'm looking for advice on my difficult situation. I've been with my partner 7 years. Always very intimate with eachother, always laughing at our inside jokes. We've been through thick and thin. But since the pandemic he's been unraveling.

He's always had moments where he obsesses over conspiracy theories, and would have issues with anger connected with that. I felt like it would be manageable. But now he really dug himself in a hole he's not going to climb out of. He truly believes in the most outrageous fake news. Where as I come from the standpoint that the world is chaos and there's no orchestrating it all. He dug himself into a deep ditch of- I'm the only one whose right, and everyone else (especially who wear masks) is wrong. He works nights at a bar and sleeps through all day until sunset, and it's difficult for me to get him out of bed. Before you suggest it, there's just no way to get therapy for this man.

Luckily we're not a lease and share an apt with his aunt, whose supportive of what's going on somewhat. I decided to go cold turkey. This winter a night while he's away, I'm taking my things and moving to a new state. Leaving a long note explaining everything :(

I'm so worried for him. I love him but can't be his caretaker forever...

@tauruschan

You're right, you can't be his caretaker forever, or even for a little while. If he's not ready to seek help, then that's his choice. We can love someone but be unable to handle their "stuff."

Does Aunt have any influence with him?

@InquireWithin thanks for the reply. sorry I phrased it incorrectly but actually the aunt is quite neutral. I told her once I can't take it anymore and she doesn't know how to react or what to do

@tauruschan

It's okay, it's impossible to edit posts here, if we want to edit for clarity. If she's neutral, she may not feel so neutral if his attitude or conspiracy thinking boils over and starts to affect everything around him. And it's so hard when someone like that lives in your house. I think you are wise to get some distance, for your own safety. I hope he gets some support in some fashion, from some source.
