Have you ever returned a gift after a break up?
I recently "broke up" with a "friend" that hurt me a lot. I posted in another thread what happened. I had to cut him off my life to be able to move on. The thing is I had had a pair of emerald earrings, a box of colored pencils and a notebook that he gave me 10 years ago, they were my treasures and I carried them whenever I went. After what he did to me, to see those objects became painful and a remainder of all his lies. I decided to get rid of them, but didn't have a heart to throw them in the garbage. The earrings were quite expensive, so I sent them back to him by mail with a note written in the notebook that says "I cannot have them anymore, thank you for everything". Do you think it was stupid? Have you ever returned a gift after a break up?
@SadBlueCrab yes it is very sad to do that...gifts were given from the soul at that specific moment...gifts are part of your history, of who you are...it is true that we are free if we do not have any posessions but gifts are reminders of good moments, they were done in good will and with love...yes it hurted your boyfriend the fact that you returned his gift if that was what you wanted, to hurt him back...it hursts, gifts are just "symbols" saying in fact that we give you a piece of our souls, that we care about you and want to make you happy...i hurt alot and threw away my gifts even if I cared enormously about the people who gave them to me and I feel empty...in recent months I wanted to return a gift that I barely accepted and I stopped myself. Doing that was hurting me and the person I love whom has no fault in my misery and suffering.
@SakoombaKero
Thanks for you response... To be honest I didn't want to hurt him, even after everything that happened I would never hurt him purposely. I sent them back because it was really painful to keep them. I didn't think it would hurt him because I don't really think he cares and he could sell the earrings and make some money, which I'm pretty sure that's what he's going to do once he gets them. But you might also be right and if I had thought things better I wouldn't have sent them back.
@SadBlueCrab it's ok, you are a caring loving soul🤗, you coped with hurt as you saw fit on the moment. You are a very good loving person.🤗😊
