Telling my best friend I like her

So about 10 months ago I told my best friend of 12yrs that I liked her and wanted to build a relationship with her. She said she would go on a date with me the following Friday night. She and her "boyfriend" at the time were going through a rough time where he cheated on her so I figured it was a good time to tell her, well she didn't txt me much after she said yes and ended up bailing on me and went to go see him, And we didn't talk for around 9 months. We started talking again recently and we talk every day and hangout multiple times a week and I am spending the night Friday. We are both single rn, should I ask again?
