Both... depending on who you are and how much of a douche you can be.

I'd like to be loved, but I am afraid.

Loved, you know why? Because by being love they will respect me enough not to make anything that will lead to bothering me. But feared might lead to lying or hiding a lot of things not to bother you.

Both, but since I have to choose one, I would say Loved.

As stupid as it sounds, I would rather be loved than feared. Lol it's easy to be feared. All you have to do is commit large-scale crimes, such as murder. Love, on the other hand, is not as easy. "Being nice" is just simply not enough.
