Being Stashed is the coined term apparently and it is not nice.
Hello Community,
Posted this on "share your story" i feel its more apropriate here.
I have a stressing relationship situation concerning me and my SO (Significant Other). Together 4+ years, we got back together within a month of separating and my SO will not tell their family or friends we have reconciled. Every-time the issue is raised I am broken up with. I have been open with my family about us and my SO interacts with my family regularly. But it puts pressures on us and the relationship. (Not being able to call until late, or pop in, date nights, family gatherings, parties etc) as it all has to be worked around my SO family not finding out. I have suggested whatever the concern is that we simply be open and honest as it gives us the best chance and removes unnecessary stress.
I have been advised that the stylish term for this from friends is called stashing and its not nice.
Any thoughts / advice would be appreciated.
Sweetheart - you deserve so much better than this. You deserve to be with someone who is proud to be with you and wants you to be around their family and friends, and to fully share their life with you. This is unfair and it is cruel to you, and I sincerely hope that you decide to prioritise your needs and happiness over their childish behaviour.
@IntrovertedOldSoul Is there a reason why your SO hasn't told the family/friends? Not sure if it will work out? Did they not approve of you? Do they think the SO is still single/seeing someone else?
It's hard to say but it seems odd.
@ReadBooksDrinkTea Hello and thank you for your comment. My SO family think they are single I assume. I got on very well with my SO family and friends. It is confusing as to why they refuse to share that they are still in contact with me, letalone a relationship, the stress they put themselves under to keep these lies going is bizzare than simply aknowledging we are in contact. It makes no sense to me its baffling.
