I don
I've always been into the vintage style. I don't dress vintage in general but I have a few vintage dresses and outfits that I like to wear. When I was on campus I'd wear them frequently. I often would get compliments and I would feel beautiful. Today i wore a dress and the first comment she makes is that it's too tight on my chest area. Yet my dress barely showed any cleavage and it feels comfortable. I feel like my mom is trying to micromanage me. I'm 21 years old and i just want to live my life. I know other girls on campus don't dress like me because they usually wear leggings or a sweatshirt. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion. My style just tends to be a little more feminine and dressy. How can I get her to understand me?

You're an adult, and you can dress however you want to. If your mom doesn't understand that, then that's on her. Have you tried explaining to her how you feel about it?
@emma131
not really because i feel like it'll be useless. But she'll try to say that I look dumb or that people will look at me funny.
@danymaria , Hugs to you. If you are happy with who you are and how you look , that's the best acceptance and appreciation you give yourself. Your mom has her own experience ,values and choices. If she cannot see you as how you are , then she has to make the adjustments and reflection to accept you. Hopefully she will be able to that one of these days . Meanwhile , her hurtful words right now are just words , they might change over the years to become words of appreciation. So , let words be just words, no reaction to them , no hurt attach to them .

The fact that you have a style that you feel comfortable in is amazing, and you should be very proud of it!! I'm sure your dresser are super cute (I live for the vintage style myself, but a little more '60s).
You should really try talking to your mum about it, though. Even if she doesn't listen, you've tried and that's a lot.
Also, you're 21, so rock being you 'cause we're young and we can experiment and dress how we want to (not that age has anything to do with it, you can rock anything at any age if you feel it!!!)
