The therapists on this site have been no help ive talked to like 4 or 5 of them and they've given no advice so im hoping someone on here can. I have an extremely difficult time talking to my boyfriend in real life. Hes super awkward as well so its pretty much up to me to get the ball rolling but I dont know how. Im in highschool and we've been dating for almost 3 months and hardly talk in person. Its not that I'm scared but I just never have anything to say. I dont know what to do.sad

@bravePenguin3133 well maybe you aren't compatible if you don't have much to talk about

maybe think about what y'all had in common that made you date in the first place. find those similarities and go from there. another thing to try is j asking him how his day was, or how school is going.

@bravePenguin3133

does he talk well over text? maybe start by calling him or facetiming him (if you can/are allowed) because that is a little more face to face. then from there, consider what you want him to ask you/say to you and then say that to him,

@bravePenguin3133 You need to tell him directly that you want to talk more. He needs to know that it's a problem. I also suggest reassuring him at the same time that you believe he can talk to you. Let him know that you like him and have faith in him.

Here's an idea that's practical: try sharing something personal with him that he wouldn't expect you to talk about. Tell him that he can talk to you about anything that's on his mind, "For example, what I just shared with you."
