Toxic relationship

Hi everybody, I am looking for some advice on my relationship with my babies father. He was in a long term relationship with someone else and we got into a relationship really quickly after that. I feel like he is not the person he portrayed himself to be. I find myself walking on eggshells and being very distant. He can be very aggressive toward me both verbally and physically. The physical abuse seems to be getting worse and can be exasperated by alcohol. Things have became very toxic and I don't want to be around it so he has moved out of our family home. He is persistent about coming home and says he will get help for his aggressive and toxic behavioural issues. I have a lot of love for this man but my worry is can a leopard really change its spots. Any advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation would be appreciated

Hi. I am glad to hear he has moved out. Physical and emotional abuse is unacceptable and your safety has to be your number one priority and it seems you know that. I would only consider taking him back AFTER he has gone for help for his toxic and aggressive behaviour and possibly his drinking. I have been with my partner since I was a teen, 34 years now, and mental health issues only get worse if left untreated. Since he acknowledges that he has a problem, and if he is truly sincere in getting help, he will start getting that help for himself whether he is coming back to you or not. Often it is just a manipulation to get back in the home. So like I said, make him get the help first, before he comes back. And i you do not have children together, I would just move on from this relationship completely. Your are afraid and walking on eggshellls and suffering abuse. A boyfriend is much different than a husband and father to your children.

I see now you do have a baby together. My text box was blocking the thread so couldn't reread. Keep yourselves safe and take him back only after he has gone for help.
