Differing political views

My bf and I of 6 months have some differing political views, but we agree on some things. These differences don't bother him, but I think I'm starting to overthink them. He's my dream guy in every way and we both see a future together, but is this too big of a problem? What should I do?

Well, what are the views? Your political opinion can show how much you don't care about someone.

@amandaelizabeth

When political views touch on your core beliefs, thats when things can get dicey if your partner has a different point of view.

You had better figure that out well before you get in too deep, or it may very well be a source of friction.

I understand why this difference concerns you. Obviously you want to agree on the fundamentals. However, this differentiation does not mean that your core values are different. There are radicals on both sides that may be outliers, but overall many people on the right and left share the same core values and goals. They merely disagree on the necessary steps for achieving these same goals. I think that relationships with differing view points are extremely powerful and beneficial because it allows for open discussion and mutual respect which is difficult to find nowadays. Please do not let your fear of this differentiation deter you from the relationship. These differing view points do not need to be a reason for conflict if you mutually respect one another. View it in a positive light and just become even closer :) Just my opinion, take it or leave it. A great relationship like the one you describe it hard to find <3
