Feeling pushed aside

Really just need somewhere to vent and this is the only place I could find that I thought would be good and helpful My boyfriend lost a friend over a week ago, he’s been over at the families house a lot which I do understand completely of course. He’s invited me over but it feels like ever sense his concentration has changed. Yeah I know it’s only been a week, but I still feel pushed to the side We’ve been planning on going on a date, we decided to postpone it to tomorrow because we had dinner with his parents instead the original night planned. Then tonight he tells me we’re going over to his friends house after he’s been there non stop after telling me he won’t be there all the time. And it’s the first day we actually could have time together. So I asked him “guessing that means we’re changing date night again?” And he said “yes” no “I’m so sorry I didn’t think about it” nothing. And I get it grieving is hard. I’m trying to not feel selfish or anything. Before this happened it had already been rare that we got alone time. If we did he would sleep or play video games most times. Am I wrong for feeling this way?

I get that it must be hard to not have someone the way you once did. But I think you just need to try your best and give him some time. Be there for him while he is grieving. Things will be different for a while, but he will remember, in this difficult time, how you treated him. And one day when he has coped better he will be thankful that you stuck by him in this tough period. Also try to remember that it’s not personal. He’s not doing this to hurt you, he is hurting and trying to deal with a great loss.
