Getting ghosted….again

I’m 27 (f) and started getting back into dating seriously this year. I’ve been getting ghosted a lot recently and it’s really frustrating, especially when it’s by someone who I’ve really connected with and who “can’t wait” to meet me. I know it’s not my fault but how do I keep getting back up and putting myself out there? How do I let go of someone that had serious potential?

That's frustrating. The truth is if they actually had serious potential, they wouldn't have ghosted you -- which is not a reflection of your self-worth, by the way. It can be hard to accept this when we start developing an emotional connection or letting ourselves get our hopes up about someone. It can start to feel exhausting.

I don't know how long the typical chat you have with people usually is before you discuss meeting them, but perhaps it would be helpful if you tempered your excitement until they've proven themselves to at least be someone who can follow through on their word. Try to observe yourself getting excited, but don't fully allow yourself to emotionally invest in them just yet. They haven't earned that yet.

Also, know that it's okay to take a temporary break from dating if you find yourself losing patience after one too many ghosters like this. A lot of people start to feel this way with dating, and it's easy to get discouraged. It can help to take a temporary break to do something to uplift yourself so you don't feel like you're getting weighed down by it all. Then when you're feeling more like yourself again and in a better mental space, reapproach it. Try to have fun with it and see it more as a learning experience.
