I need advice

My boyfriend of 2 years broke up with me not long ago due to personal mental health reasons. He didn’t want to ‘drag me down with his problems’ and wanted to focus on himself in order to get better. I obviously respect him wanting to work on himself but I don’t want to be apart. We were each other’s best friends and had the most amazing relationship and it feels silly to just throw that all away.

My friends are just telling me to move on and forget about him but I don’t want to. I really hope once he’s in a better head space we could try again but am I silly for thinking this? What should I do?

I would get back together in a heart beat regardless or whether he has his mental health issue or not, I love him and just want to be there for him if he needs me.

Hello! I hope all is well with you. As a guy who did the same thing as he did, all I can say is that as his best friend, be there for him when he needs you.

Going through mental health issues is not easy and since you know him better than literally anyone else, be present, be there for him, but at the same time prioratize your self, your health. You need to know where you are and how you're taking all this in, but if you think you can set your romantic feelings towards him aside for now and help him out, please do so.

When his mind finally clears up and he's feeling better, there definitely is a chance for you two to be back together, but dont force it, just let it come naturally. If things doesn't go as expected, you two are still friends, you can keep ypur relationship as is.

Im literally writing this at 5am and I haven't gotten any sleep so this kight be really messy and hard to understand but just reply with a question if you have any. I really hope this helps.
