Might be away for the summer
Hi,
I have been applying to many different summer internships. I am also in school, so I have had to manage applications and school. I just got an offer for one in another state from me. I also have an interview for one on Saturday, also in a different state, but a bit closer and more interesting position to me. I am going to tell the one on Saturday that I need to decide by the end of the month, which gives me a little time to wait to hear if they give me an offer too.
I am anxious about being away from my partner for so long, and wish now I had applied to more local stuff, but we only started dating recently. I think I need to accept one of the two jobs, so don't really have time now to pursue other local options. I feel like it is only for the summer and hopefully we can try to visit each other once or twice, but I have been anxious that I'm putting strain on the relationship or making him go out of his way to visit me. Also he has mentioned not being sure how serious he feels comfortable being, so there is a lot of uncertainty about how long the relationship will last in general. At the same time I have a lot of feelings for him, and even want to tell him I love you. I think I am doing the best I can given the circumstances to come of with compromises to visit each other and what not, just have been stressed about it.
Thanks,
Day

I've had friends with partners who are away on business trips quite
often, and they enjoy their time by phone and video, as they concentrate
on talking, which keeps their relationships solid. It's hard to know how a relationship will go during periods of time when away. I hope you are able to choose the internship that is best for you personally and just do your best to stay in touch while you're away.
@MidwesternCalmSeeker Thanks! I ended up getting the one I wanted which is also close to where both our families live. I talked with him and he was open to visiting each other, so I am feeling better about it. I'm sure I'll still miss him a lot, but I think you're right about phone and video, plus long talks can be good for bonding with each other.
