New bf refuses to learn how to cook
Hey,
I am mostly looking to vent, not get advice, thanks.
I am dating someone new for about 3-4 months so far. Things are going well. We are going on regular dates, and I met some of his friends. We have a lot in common and enjoy our time together. I told him early on I am applying to another internship for next year which may or may not be close to where we live now. He seems very interested in things lasting for longer, but seems ok to take it one step at a time and enjoy each other's company and going on dates, as it is new.
I applied to some jobs that are local and some that are dream positions but farther. Some places like 2-3 hours drive where we might be able to do long distance and see each other on weekends.
However, there have been some small things that make me wonder if we are compatible long term and feel like I'm giving myself an out by having some job options that would take me farther away. We share many similar interests and values, however I got annoyed today because he refuses to learn to cook. I have gently brought up meal kit services and a recipe app he could use to learn a little, and that I might like him to able to cook for me if I was sick or had a hard day, but he still was pretty dismissive, and said he is just lazy and doesn't feel like learning. Since the relationship is new and things are still mostly chill/moving slow, I am happy to keep spending time with him, but I have been a bit triggered at learning this issue that probably will be a dealbreaker for me if things ever got more serious. I honestly don't know if I'm ready to settle down with anyone yet and not sure how serious this will get, but I know I will probably need to talk to him about it again, I'm just really frustrated, because I like him and he's overall warm and fun and I am upset with how resistant he was to such a simple thing.
Thanks if you read this long vent lol.

@Daydreamer47 It sounds like you’re holding both appreciation for what’s good with him and frustration about the parts that don’t sit right with you.
@Daydreamer47 oh.I understand you very well. I hope you can work things out.
@1howtofightloneliness thanks. I am feeling upset because I feel like this is a dealbreaker for me, and I'm feeling sad about it because we just started dating and otherwise things have been fun and supportive. I've wanted to keep spending time with him but I am worried I will be emotionally checked out and whether I should consider whether I want to continue this and break things off now, but I really don't want to do that when things have just started. I'm trying to take it one step at a time and have told him we I need to talk about some things in person. Hoping I can talk to him again this weekend.
We had a conversation today and almost broke up but decided to take some time to think about it.
Also I found out he wears his socks for two days in a row. Is this normal??
Cooking is fun together. He just can't be bothered perhaps
