my partner and I have been together for 3 1/2 years, perfectly loyal to one another everything was always great. But, a few months ago I was contacted by someone stating they gave my partner their number not knowing they had a partner and my partner didn’t say anything to me but said they were meaning to tell me but waiting for the right time as I was away at school. That began our downfall.

I forgave quickly, but it always hurt. Then a couple months passed and we ended up ending our relationship mutually, so I went back to school for my last week and partied, got drunk and ended up sleeping with someone in a totally platonic way.

When I got home from school my ex and I were discussing getting back together and I was honest about the one night stand and long story short we got back together even though it was hard for my partner.

But, my partner wouldn’t have sex with me due to the hurt and betrayal they felt, which put a damper on things, we just weren’t the same but we want to be together just my partner can’t get past what I did, I’m not sure what to do. Am I a bad person? Should I continue to fight for it even though my partner doesn’t seem to be as much?

I mean, you had broken up. You were well within your rights to sleep with whoever you wanted.

Having said that, he feels how he feels about it. It's hard to force yourself not to feel something.

I think the best thing to do is to talk it out with your partner and try to figure out where you both are and if you're both interested in working to get through this.

You were broken up. Nothing is your fault, you were free to do whatever you wanted. It's a choice after a breakup to get back together again. Usually couples who breakup and get back either don't work out or more time will go by and it will eventually end. There are couples however that go to couples therapy to sort out and talk about these things so that they can heal and their relationships get stronger for it because you've been through tough times. Good luck, the decision is yours to make.
