Adversarial Friendships
Have any of you lost someone you loved so deeply it made you mad? What were the contentions of your friendship/relationship? Why did it end? Why did it continue?

I am so sorry to hear that. As a mother I can not imagine the pain your must feel. Do keep in mind mothering any teenager is difficult. If you have communicated openly and acknowledged her feelings, I am afraid you are right. The ball is in her court.
I recently lost my closest friend of eight years. After years of personal hardship, a relocation, and remarriage, he suddenly stopped responding. My heart was crushed. I tried to rationalize his absence six ways to Sunday. Worse of all was the complete lack of communication. I believe I could have grieved this loss differently had he provided an explanation and formally ended the friendship. I find this a method of control and intensely immature. It greatly saddens me, but I have learned that you can never force someone to take accountability, communicate, or be the supportive pillar you need. Looking back I realized that much of our friendship had been one sided. I often felt the love I had for him was taken for granted. And now, since the loyalty has been severed and my forgiveness grossly abused, I am afraid I would not trust a second apology and/or attempt to re-enter my life. This loss has been profound for me and has changed the very make-up of the way I navigate my relationships. I would say this is the first time I ever felt truly abandoned by a friend.
I understand this dynamic is considerably different, but I think you can identify with a lot of what I am trying to convey. Here is an article I think might provide you with some peace of mind, if not comfort, during a very difficult time. Stay strong, mamma. ![]()
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR MESSAGE.... BUT IM A FATHER... SHOULD OF MENTION THAT
Oh, LOL. My mistake for assuming. ![]()
Oh dont be sorry.. I just read your statement using father instead of mother. Glad people like you take the time to help others. We need more people like you. Thank you.

You're most welcome. Thank you for your appreciation, my heart is in the work. More importantly, I am a mother, as well as someone's daughter, and can understand the contention that can result. You are not alone. And if your daughter is like me, she will find the words and return when she is ready.
Best of luck to you.
