A tale of two friends
My best friend in Chicago was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. My other friend, who I thought would be another best friend, might end up not being a friend at all because when he was notified of my best friends condition, he did not even send any words of encouragement through a simple text message until I texted him to apologize in advance for possibly making him mad with anything I may have wrote to him in that e-mail explaining my best friends condition.
Ive known my best friend in Chicago for 5 years. Ive known my other friend for only 3 months. This guy ended up moving back to Austin just two months ago, which is where he lived previously to moving to Chicago. Weird ...
@AbbyHarris1976 The Austin "friend" isn't. He's shown you who he is. Believe him.

Exactly. No need for enemies with friends like that. I think the best thing for me to do is keep supporting my best friend here, keep her in my prayers ... and move on from emotionally manipulative and fake friends who withhold words of kindness and encouragement when I need it the most and then say its my fault because he thinks Im being too emotionally demanding in this friendship.
Another friend told me never to make a priority one who considers me only an option.
What stinks about this whole situation is that because this fellow in Austin was a great listener to me when he was still in Chicago, I trusted and opened up to this person. I talked about stuff with him that I very rarely talk about with anyone save for family and very close friends such as the one struggling with cancer now.
I emotionally invested in what I thought would be a close friendship with this fellow - and I shouldnt have!!
The point Im trying to make is ... since he left Chicago, its like hes either become a different person, or maybe he was someone he isnt when he was in Chicago because he felt out of place here.
This does not mean I would like for him to come back, even to visit. He can take his time coming back, or not come back at all.
