Caring about someone after friendship ends
Do you think its likely that someone who was once your friend can still care and think of you even if you are no longer friends?
I often think about it. Its hard going from seeing that person and talking to them everyday to becoming pretty much strangers and withit the guilt and regret. I think its quite sad.
@gentleDay5672 The future is unwritten. Even if, today, you're not friends anymore, over the course of a lifetime you cannot know if your paths will cross again. And even if, today, you're not friends anymore, the path you walked together will be unchanged over time and space because even the most fleeting friendships leave their indelible mark on who you are. I only hope that, with time, the guilt, the regret, and the sadness all fade away so all that will be left in the end are the happiest memories.
@ShadesBluer To an extent, you might want to think about why the friendship ended. You shouldn't put yourself in a position to get hurt anymore. Some relationships are toxic and any attempt to act out of accordance with where the both of you are presently, is only going to increase the damages.
Now, I'm saying let's continue to be humane... dunno, be morally sound. Care when you need to care. But, be careful not to put yourself in a position to get hurt again.🤗

I do agree that in time, the emotional pain of failed friendships fades and allows us to look back with a more objective point of view, and allows us to focus more on the positive memories once the emotional pain has faded. 🙂
