Check in
so I haven't relaly talked to my best friend for the past couple of days and I know he is going through a lot. so i convinced myself that I'm going to check in on him again, but then I started overthinking like: "what if it seems like I'm being needy?" "what if he needs space from me and I'm being annoying?" Or "what if he is getting frustrated by me checking in?" So now I don't know. I want to make sure everything is okay but I don't want to seem clingy, annoying or obnoxious to him if I do.

I completely understand this. The feeling of wanting to make sure someone is okay and be a good friend while also giving them space if they need it while being a good friend is a thin line to walk along. **hugs*** I know the decision isn't easy!

It reflects your sincerity & commitment towards your friendship. I think if you call him and he reacts in a manner that doesn't please you, you can still feel proud of contacting him with the right & good intent. Whenever in doubt in such a situation it is always better to try to talk until and unless the situation is really serious like two of you have had a some big argument etc. Currently it doesn't seem so. So you might well do better to contact him but be prepared for any kind of response. It could be cold but then it won't necesssarily reflect him thinking negatively about you. Most likely it will have to do with his own situation and current mindset. Often we delay contacting with the same/similar fear as you are having and in the process at times let our friends down. You might just contact with asking for general well being. If the response is cold or no response then back out and give him space. Otherwise carry on the conversation based on the responses only to a point that you do not end up irritating him. The tealk has to be situation and mood based. All the best.
