Falling For A Friend?
Okay, so about two or three months ago I recieved a friend request from someone on Facebook. There were no pictures of him on his profile and we didn't have any mutual friends so it seemed a bit random. But I sent him a message anyway in case it was someone that I knew from school and found out that it was actually the former best friend of a guy I dated seven years ago. He'd bumped into me in town with one of his mates a few weeks before hand and hadn't been able to put a name to my face until he saw my name pop up on someone elses profile page.
We started messaging back and forth in an attempt to catch up with each other since we never really spoke much back then and realised that we actually have quite a lot in common. He's into the same kind of films and music as me and we'd both bought tickets to see a band that the both of us like so we decided that it would be fun to hang out. Especially since we would soon be bumping into each other again.
Now we talk pretty much everyday and I find myself telling him things that I've never really felt comfortable enough to share with anyone else. I've opened up to him about how I don't really like myself that much and always feel like people are not that interested in me. But instead of judging me for it he just tells me that he understands and encourages me not to put myself down so much. He even opened up himself and told me that he often feels the same way so I guess that's just another thing that we have in common. But now I think I'm starting to like him as more than just a friend and I'm afraid that if I tell him I'm just going to make things really weird between us.
What should I do?
@vladtheimpaler its up to you what you should do your the expert on you but if i were you i would take things slow
@luna23456 @luna23456 I decided to tell him the truth after realising that it would be better to do so before I let myself get too attached. I figured it would hurt less to have him tell me I'm just a friend now than if he were to say that to me in two or three months time when my feelings have gotten a lot more intense. But it turned out pretty good because he told me the only reason he'd approached my friend when we were hanging out all those months ago was because he saw me there and thought I was cute
@vladtheimpaler oh ok so are you two dating now? i am dating my crush i talked to over the summer i mean its possible but i hear most of the time when you have a crush it doesn't always work out half the time
@luna23456 No, we're not dating. He decided to be completely honest with me and confessed that he's transsexual which means he will be starting hormone replacement therapy next year. Obviously it was a bit of a shock at first since I've always identified as being straight and I've never really considered the idea of being in a relationship with a woman. But I'm trying to keep an open mind about it. Right now I can't really see us entering into a romantic relationship anytime in the future. But then it was never about gender or physical attraction for me anyway. I liked him specifically because we have a lot in common and that won't change just because he starts to become more feminine so who knows what might happen. In two months time or a year if those feelings are still there then maybe I might start to feel differently about being in a relationship with a woman. Stranger things have happened in life, right?
