Feel guilty.
My guy best friend has planned us a trip to Italy for summer, we both got so excited and he asked me if I can go and I stupidly said yes and I even told him that my mom is allowing me to go. However my mom doesn’t know and doesn’t know the trip that he’s planned. My mom knows him personally and loves everything about him. But my mom tends to be strict over the places I go too. And if she says no I’ll feel so guilty for lying to him plus getting his hopes up. Any help is very much appreciated!
@persistentCat3856 I think for this matter, we should first minimize the loss to each other, I mean the economic loss. You already have a plant with your bestie to go to Italy, so I think you should ask him if he has done any research or booked flights and hotels. If he doesn't, you can talk him into it. You can tell him that you forgot to consider whether your mother allowed you to travel when you agreed, and if you can, we can also find a memorable or interesting place to hang out in the state. If he has booked a flight or a hotel or something, then I think you should apologize to him first, then explain the reason, and finally two people can work out a way to cancel the trip. Of course, I think it's best if you prepare for both before you ask your mother. Make plans for a trip to Italy together, but don't buy tickets and everything right away because you're not entirely sure you're going to Italy. Then you can work together on a travel plan for the state and plan B. That way, if your mom says no, you can use plan B with him. If your mom says no to both of your plans, you'll have to apologize and explain, but I don't want that to happen. Have a good holiday (if your mother agrees).
Thank you so much, I haven’t told him about what happened however I did have a talk with my mom and she actually agreed to let me go with him especially because she trusts him to protect me. My mom tends to be strict and it’s my first time going to Italy by myself with my bestfriend so I understand why some parents may be a little hesitant over that. Again thank you so much for helping!
