Getting over a friend

My work colleague and I were close friends. I liked him more never told him.

Becos he always wanted to marry the girl suggested by his folks within the community. Occasional undercurrents were there of mutual chemistry but I think he suppressed them. ( very occasional)

now he confided in me first that he is getting engaged. I confided that I’m hurt but I had to just let him kno my feelings. He was supportive.

But I’m not able to be his friend. Cos I’m full of resentment, jealousy and hurt. I don’t blame him but still I am. I m feeling ashamed that I’m jealous but I can’t be normal without breaking down. What do I do?

You need to take care of yourself. I know that sucks, but being around him will be painful and you won't be able to be a good friend anyway if you're constantly feeling that way. So just take the time and space you need to grieve and heal.

Yea.. I feel so anxious and guilty that I am having the anger inside me .. I really dunno how to deal with it. It gets triggered when he is there though he really hasn’t led me on or anything. I dunno what to do about that. ? I feel sometimes am I a bad human being. I don’t wish any ill .. but I’m just angry

I think that's fine and normal. As long as you don't act on that anger in ways that affect people who dont deserve it... just let yourself feel what you feel. Sometimes that's all you can do really :/

I've also found that exercise helps with getting over stuff like this. I started doing martial arts after a bad breakup. Was very cathartic. :D

@confusedRaven6140 sounds like a good idea to release the aggression. I bowed him once or twice after which I regretted it. Now I’m just avoiding him completely to save him and me the pain.

Thanks so much
