Girl Code?
How important is girl code? Often I see people saying that everyone should follow girl code, but some people raised a point saying that you couldn't control who your ex or your friend likes.
The reason I ask is because I recently started talking to one of my friend's exes, and I think that I may like him and he may like me back.

Hi! One thing I've learnt the hard way is that girl code changes constantly. If it was a book, it would be written in webdings because nobody knows how to read it - they just know that it exists!
It's true that you can't control who someone likes (whether it's your friend or your ex) - but at the same time how do you know he doesn't like you?

Hey @ringabell29
I do believe that girl code exists but sometimes what it can mean should be assessed. If you are making a genuine connection with this friend's ex you may have to think about a few things to determine if it is worth rocking the boat. For example:
1. Is this potential new relationship worth sacrificing the years of friendship I have with this friend?
2. What would be the best way to bring this up to my friend?
3. How does the ex feel about being in a relationship with a person who knows THEIR ex and what is their intention behind dating me? (Some people can do some really shady things when it comes to revenge on an ex so just throwing it out there as a warning).
I think out of all the questions the first one is the most important. If you determine that the new relationship is worth it, make sure to communicate that to your friend and be willing to talk semi-openly about it. She isn't entitled to all of your business of course but you may have to be give a little to preserve the friendship.
Best of luck to you.
Here's my two cents:
Every "girl code" will look different as every girl is different. Every relationship is different. Every friendship is different.
Don't know if it will hurt their feelings? Ask.
Problem solved. :)
