How do you even make friends?
Making friends can be a very hard thing to do, especially if you don't have any confidence.
think about things you enjoy doing whether it be reading, writing, art, photography, etc
you could do a part time college coarse doing something you like doing for a hobby and meet people that way, or you can join groups on Facebook where you can talk to people with the same interests.
I moved away from my friends and family to be with my husband and I knew no one. I had to make new friends from scratch whichwas really hard for me to do. But I got there in the end and I now have a solid group of friends that I wouldn't change for the world.
sometimes we have to push ourselves out of our comfort zones to really get anywhere.
good luck.
Joining clubs, sports, or any new hobbies will help you make friends instantly. Just go into it with a confident attitude and be friendly to everyone. Most people are scared to just go up to someone and start talking, but it makes the other person feel happy that you are interested in knowing them. I suggest just being nice, friendly person to everyone you talk to and joining extracurricular activities will help you a lot. Good luck!
All of these tips are great! It's also easier to make more friends once you have a few because you will probably get introduced to theirs. It's just getting out there and doing it that can be daunting. You can do it :)
Getting out there? That will be very very very very difficult
Your never too old to go to college.
If you want to make friends then you need to put your self out there.
You need to push yourself out of your comfort zone and make yourself do things.
When you make that first step you will realise that it's not as bad as you thought it would be. And you will be surprised just how much confidence you will gain from that.
trust me joining groups and putting yourself out there with people with the same interests as you will work. And the only regret you will have is not having done it sooner.
I know what it feels like to be alone. I've been there and done that and felt real low because of it. But when I put myself out there and stopped worrying wetherpeople would like me or not was the best thing I could ever of done. You will probably feel really nervouse about doing these things but in my eyes that is why joining things like Facebook is a good step. You can get to know people first without having to meet them. And go from there.
Is there a how to make friends guide?
I can only make friends online, and those stop talking to me pretty soon. All of my old friends were from World of Warcraft. And the only one of them I now talk to is my boyfriend, who lives states away. And i have tried making friends at school and it just sucked, I tried talking to one girl but it was obvious she had friends and didn't need any more but she gave me her number anyways, but that just made me feel like crap, real life people make me feel like crap. Is that even normal?
Very normal. Too be honest I've found much more solace in my split personality than real people, a lot of them give humanity a bad name
people just suck :I animals are way better
I know, apparentlywe're "social animals". Frankly some animals can be more humane than humans who truly are animals in nature
humans are monsters the world would do a lot better if animals ruled the world
I know. They would probably kill each other in the process but I doubt very much they'd let a man with a toothbrush glued to his face rule them
who would kill each other?
I understand how you feel, i feel the same way. I tried to reach out and befriend someoneyet they're like predators and i was like their prey. Trust is the issue here. You can be nice and befriend them, yet the moment you turn your back, they're like stalking and ready to devour you.
Yes, I don't have any friends. Sad but true. I find comfort in anonimity where people cannot judge me. I'm just keeping a safe distance.
I just want to say that I only really have two close friends, and one of them lives in a different country so I don't see him very often, and the other one is of the opposite sex and married, so that makes it slightly difficult to be close in some ways. Also, she and I are only close in the sense that we share the same humour, laugh a lot together and have similar interests and values. But we are not close inan intimate way, i.e.we don't sharedeep thoughts or feelings with each other or cry at each other's shoulders in distress.
I have been out there, singing in choirs, playing in music groups, socializing with people at university or at work. I've studies different courses and have had many different jobs. In other words, I have had many opportunities to meet people and make friends. I have also indeed met many kind people and many with similar interests, and yet I have chosen not to pursue the friendships, as I justhaven't liked them enough.I also actually like being alone to some extent, as the things I like to do, such as play the piano or paint, are more or less solitary forms of activities. I don't like going to parties, dinners, concerts, pubs, bars or do sports with others. When I travel, I prefer to travel alone.
So what's the problem, you may ask? Well, first of all, I have been suffering from depression for many years. Secondly, we humans are social animals, and all guides and research that I have come across on how to obtain happiness mention the importance of a social network/friends. Thirdly, Ido feel less sad when I'm with the only twoclosefriends that I have, andsince I started chatting on this websites, I have also felt a bit less lonely. So yes, I can see that my solitary lifestyle has probably had a slightly negative impact on my wellbeing. Not least I thinkbecauseloneliness makes oneself centered and makes one focus on once own problems perhaps too much sometimes; a self centered lifestyleis also one thing that all the guides and research seem to point outas one commoncause for unhappiness.
So to conclude, I seem to find almost all people that I meet notworth pursuing a close friendshipwith. And yet, I can see that although I seem to need solitude to some extent, being a social animal I also probably need some friends. So, having probably met hundreds if not thousands of people in different contexts, how many people must I meet before I meet a soulmate? Why is it so hard for me to find close friends?
At least you've got 2 friends. I've never had any and I can't get anymore. Going to school isn't an option because I'm too old and switching jobs is awful idea. Mainly because right now my job is very lucrative, I like it and I'm good at it. And it's also a bad idea because where I am finding a job is like finding a grain of sand in a haystack. And I can't come back to my job because someone would have replaced me. I'm also one who doesn't attend extroverted events and I have to say, if we are social animals my genetic code must have really screwed up somewhere. I know this because I spent 10 years in solitude, never been married/had a girlfriend and never will have a friend of any kind.
And I don't believe in"Soulmates"The idea is just stupid to me. The idea of someone being "made" for you exists and is out there waiting for you. There isn't enough people in the world for there to be one for everyone.
